The holiday season is often referred to as the most wonderful time of the year, but for many people in need, it can also be the most challenging. During this time of giving and spreading hope and joy, it’s essential to remember those who may not have much to celebrate. This is why CharityRx is spreading hope through donations.
As a prescription discount card company, CharityRx has been helping individuals and families across the country afford prescription medicines for over four years. But its contributions go beyond just helping people save on their medical expenses.
In 2022, CharityRx launched its first-ever 12 Days of Hope event to give holiday cheer and spread hope through donations to those in need. Team members who opted in received a gift card that they could use to support a person or organization of their choice in their community. Participants were divided into teams across the country and assigned a Giving Day for when they should deliver their donations during the 12 days leading up to Christmas. The response from team members and recipients alike was overwhelming, solidifying the event’s place as an annual tradition.
The need for donations during Christmas is significant and often goes unnoticed amidst all the festivities. But the impact of even a small donation can be immense. Not only does it provide tangible resources for those in need, but it also brings a sense of hope and happiness to their lives.
As our CEO, Eric Beaumont, says, “Giving is Living!” As team members used their gift cards to give back to their communities, they experienced the joy of giving firsthand. Many shared heartwarming stories of how their small act of kindness had significantly impacted someone’s life. Some even went beyond the gift card and volunteered their time to help those in need, further spreading the spirit of giving.
I supported some foster care children on our Angel Tree at church. We have grown to love these foster kids as a family, and getting to know them and hearing how much they have been through in their little lives is truly touching. For privacy reasons, we could not take pictures with them, but they appreciated my girls and me being able to come to give them some Christmas goodies and much-needed girl items. We were able to purchase most of their list of items, such as socks, clothes, new underwear, and the things that are often needed but not really a toy, and give them those things. I like this charity, especially at this time of year.
For my 12 Days of Hope donation, I visited the Greenhouse Project in Pennsylvania, a 6-mile-wide city with 33,855 people, where 33% live in poverty, 47.7% are minors, there is a 29% school dropout rate, and $15.5k per capita income. The Greenhouse Project was founded to help improve these stats in a hurting city one day at a time.
In 2018, my friend John Clifford and his wife Emily purchased an abandoned house directly in Chester, becoming neighbors with those who are hurting. John said, “We live life in the struggle with neighbors because every life is meant to flourish.”
Since its founding, Greenhouse Project has helped 101 individuals with addiction counseling, provided 494 free hours of recovery counseling, delivered 2,041 meals each week, held 67 outreach events, and provided countless church services and opportunities to share the gospel.
A note from John, “Lasting transformation only happens in a community in which lives are shared. My life is living proof of that. I was given a second chance; people saw value in me, while I had nothing to offer. Through God’s power and love from neighbors, I was challenged to give back and help the ‘next person.’”
CharityRx was created to help those without insurance afford their life-saving medications. However, we go much deeper than just that. Like the Greenhouse Project, we aim to better our local communities by giving where we see a need. We provided everyday necessities to those seeking help at the Greenhouse Project in Chester. Thank you, John, Emily, Donnie, and everyone serving at the house. Thank you for being a Beacon of Hope to our local community.

The apartment complex I live in announced they would be a drop-off spot for Toys For Tots. They issued a challenge to everyone, which was perfect since I had $200 to spend. I asked my daughter to shop with me for this and the Willow Center because I knew she would enjoy being part of these donations. My grandson, Tucker, joined me and gave his expert opinion on some good toys to donate. By donating the toys at the office, the lovely ladies I adore were all brought to tears when I kept making trips to the car for the toys I was donating. It was awesome. I love giving people joy. Good stuff. God Bless CharityRx and Merry Christmas!
Our church friend, Sharon Poole, runs Lowcountry Orphan Relief, and we wanted to bless one of their orphans with a great Christmas. We delivered gifts for our sponsored child, a 14-year-old female named Semira, to our friend at the charity. My daughter Sydney Grace, pictured with me, had a blast as we got everything on Semira’s wish list! Semira enjoys cooking, so we purchased a cooking and baking kit and accessories for her. She enjoys doing hair, so we got her a hair-styling doll to practice on. She also received Converse shoes, pajamas, a belt bag, toiletries, and some candy canes since I was on Team Candy Canes. Thank you, CharityRx, for allowing my family and me to participate in 12 Days of Hope and other extraordinary campaigns.
I am a very new rep with CharityRx. Taking part in the 12 Days of Hope was really special. I discovered more about foster care and children through a friend who was in the foster care system as a child. As I learned more about the struggles children go through, it moved me. I had heard of Isaiah’s Place but never looked deeper until this opportunity, and I am so glad I did.
Rob Lybarger, the Director of Operations, and I met and discussed what they needed most and how we could help. He suggested toys, dolls, and games that can help the children feel comfortable or call their own when they are placed with a foster family. Knowing we are helping in so many different ways is humbling, and I am very grateful to be part of such a wonderful team. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this event.
I selected this charity because I know Cheryl, the area leader for Toys For Tots. She shared that they had a record number of names submitted this year and needed more funds. Cheryl said they had a list of things to purchase and shoppers ready to go, and receiving money would be the most helpful. I plan to be more “hands-on” next year and shop instead of just donating money.
Today, I had the pleasure of purchasing and delivering food items to an organization called Run 5 Feed 5. I learned about it through one of my CVS techs when talking about how CharityRx works with and supports local charities. Here’s their “about” from their website:
“Run 5 Feed 5 is a 501c3 organization that hosts events throughout the year, including a 5K walk/run in the spring and partnering with SerCo in December with the Be The Light 5K to fund programs that feed hungry children. Our mission started in 2014 with the hope of raising money and awareness for the dire childhood hunger problem in our communities. In addition, we currently offer grants for schools to use to buy lunch or snacks for children who would otherwise go without. Right now, in North Carolina, one out of every four children are going hungry, and our goal is to fight that statistic!”
For my 12 Days of Hope donation, I split my gift card between the two people I chose to help. I purchased gifts for a 9-year-old girl on the Satellite Beach Fire Department list as needing Christmas gifts. Then, I bought groceries for a neighbor who is on disability and has limited funds.
What a great day! Thanks to CharityRx, I bought and dropped off lots of toys and art supplies for the Safe Harbor Center in Georgia. I donated to this facility for the 12 Days of Hope because it helps abused, abandoned, or neglected children. I am grateful to CharityRx for the opportunity to support our local organization.
My 12 Days of Hope donation had a twist. I matched the gift card I received from CharityRx and doubled the giving, enabling me to complete my original plan and help a very unexpected family, too!
We helped a local group called The Matthews 25 Center, which takes care of people experiencing homelessness in the area. I gave blankets, tarps, ponchos, flashlights, batteries, and hand warmers to help our local homeless tent community. We had a banquet a few weeks ago to raise money for the shelter and form teams that will go out to visit the tent communities. We love being able to help our local communities.
Tonya and her family donated survival and emergency items to The Matthews 15 Center to help the local tent community.
I have followed the Wingard Home for a while and wanted to provide Christmas for two siblings. I fulfilled the wish list of a boy and a girl. The CharityRx 12 Days of Hope event is my favorite thing to participate in.
Meet Gerson Martinez, a high school sophomore in Texas who plays midfielder on his soccer team. Christmas Providers assigned me as his sponsor this year. Christmas Providers is a charity that works with groups in the community, including the local school district. Kids and families in need must qualify for assistance and complete paperwork for this program.
Usually, the organization asks that we meet at a neutral location to preserve the family’s privacy, but this year, the family asked us to come over and hang out. Gerson and his family are from Honduras, and he hopes to represent the US National Soccer team someday. I’ve never had a pair of $150 cleats or a $50 official Champions League soccer ball, but I hope these tools help Gerson on his journey. He plans to follow up with me and reach out when he needs a college letter of recommendation.
We have a substantial homeless population in our area. For the 12 Days of Hope, my family and I made bags of food, toiletries, things to stay warm, and many basic needs that are so easy to take for granted. We were able to make packages for ten people experiencing homelessness in Kansas City. We handed them out as a family.
My husband, Andrew, is in the Air National Guard, and his squadron compiled a list of local families needing help. For the 12 Days of Hope event, my family donated winter clothes and presents to a boy in our community. He’s close to my youngest son’s age, and I was grateful to get my kids involved when picking out things he needed. We got a lot of warm clothes and some toys that hopefully he will really enjoy! I’m so thankful for the opportunity that we all had to get involved!
After researching options, I found three kids, aged 12, 13, and 18, who live together in the Chrysalis Home for teens with autism. I met one of the Chrysalis staff members, who said the kids received nothing for Christmas last year and did not get family visits. My family and I shopped for three teens. Our acquaintance, a Chrysalis staff member, delivered the gifts for the kids’ privacy.
We bought comforters, soda, movies, board games, and an Xbox headset for the 18-year-old. In addition, we gave the younger kids two huge Lego sets and McDonald’s gift cards for each of them because they often see staff bringing in fast food but never have the money to eat out themselves.
I wouldn’t have been able to help these kids in this capacity without the 12 Days of Hope event. Thank you for giving to people in need and giving team members the gift to feel the spirit of giving!
For my 12 Days of Hope donation, I wanted to find a local charity that helps kids. The Children’s Center Utah is a preschool and daycare organization that provides mental health care for children and their families. I purchased Pull-Ups and 36 pairs of underwear in different sizes for girls and boys.
I love helping out kids in need, and Street Teens was a great organization based on the reviews I read about it. I had my children and some of their friends come with me to shop for all the toys and necessities needed by Street Teens. The lady was very kind and seemed so appreciative when I dropped off the items to them. We were super excited because she said thank you many times for the help we gave their organization.
For the 12 Days of Hope event, I chose a local single mom with five kids. Their dad recently lost his job and stopped paying child support, so they could use an extra boost of hope. I reached out and asked what they needed. Then, my daughter and I went shopping and delivered a big load of basic necessities. I love being part of a team with the core values of helping others, giving hope, and making the world better. Thank you, CharityRx, for the opportunity to participate in the 12 Days of Hope!
Thank you SO much, CharityRx! I chose to help a young mom with a 9-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old little boy from our Benton Franklin Domestic Violence Center. They just came into the shelter last week. Unfortunately, this time of year brings in many families–mostly moms with children. I’m grateful to CharityRx for putting a smile on these kids’ faces and bringing them some normalcy during the holidays.
I chose to spread HOPE to a family in my community. Their dad just passed away, leaving a mother and four kids under the age of 11, and I know their world will never be the same. My kids and I bought groceries and snacks for the family. I hope that these boxes of food and snacks of every kind will make things a little easier for the time being.
Monarch on 4th is a great cause. The director went to school with my daughter. We gave them supplies they needed for single moms and others in need. As part of our 12 Days of Hope, we delivered lots of baby wipes, deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and other essentials to Monarch on 4th in Corvallis. Doing this reminded me of what we did for Project 150 in Las Vegas. It always feels good to help people who are in need.
All four of the organizations we donated to are well-known in our community. The Humane Society does a beautiful job of placing animals needing homes and is so grateful for every donation received. They will be breaking ground soon to expand their facilities, allowing them to provide more care and services for homeless animals.
The Unity Shoppe has been providing services to those in need since the late 70’s. Kenny Loggins, a Santa Barbara resident, has been working with them since the start and does a Christmas telethon yearly to raise funds. To fully understand this organization, you need to take a tour. They have a shop out front, from donated items, where residents can shop, which provides more funding. Out back, they have a well-thought-out store of groceries, clothing, and household items that those in need, who must qualify, can shop with dignity.
Santa Barbara Rescue Mission specifically services homeless individuals. They were thrilled to receive all the new undergarments for men and women, which are badly needed.
The items we had to donate that the above charities couldn’t use, such as office supplies, went to Goodwill. Goodwill here in Santa Barbara does wonderful work with the community to provide education to those in need through their Youth Career Services and works with the Dept. of Rehabilitation Program and Second Chance Program to provide employment for those who want to better themselves. We will soon be donating more items to them. In addition to the gift cards provided by CharityRx to purchase items to donate, Matt Willingham and I cleaned out our closets to add to what we gave. I know many people will appreciate many of the items we donated.
If someone has yet to participate in the 12 Days of Hope event, I highly encourage you to do so, and this doesn’t just have to be when the company does it. You can do this on your own. Real JOY is felt and expressed by both parties, those giving and those receiving. Shopping for items for someone else is a different experience than merely shopping for yourself. The gratitude the organizations have for your selflessness fills you with an indescribable emotion and provides a sense of accomplishment far different from what you get when you do things for yourself.
Donating to the Sacramento Sheriff’s Toy Project was so much fun! The project has a long and wonderful history of giving toys, bikes, computers, and even household items to kids and families in need in the community. They started making wood toys in the early 80s, and over time, they transitioned into a 501c3 arm of the police department. Robert and Michelle are the two main officers who are here every day. They oversee the low-risk prisoners who put bikes together and gather packages for kids and families.
Not only do they donate gifts to needy families during the holidays, but they do this year-round. They also work with the local fire departments to help families in need who lost everything due to a fire.
I knew this local charity would be very rewarding in the end. Due to the awesome response of techs and pharmacists to our flyer with a local charity, it was fun shopping for gifts. My delivery day was absolutely rewarding to have such a warm reception and be given a tour, as well as the history of their organization. Donating to this organization was a fantastic and fun experience!
I supported the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station Toy Drive for the 12 Days of Hope. They deliver toys to children in my community who are in need. My two older grandchildren went with me to give toys to our local Sheriff’s Staton. At first, my little ones wanted to keep some toys, but after we chatted about giving to help others, they ended up leaving the station very happy and even hugged the officers. My son is a deputy in the local jails but was too busy working overtime to join us. I also gave the Sheriff’s station some CharityRx calendars, pet notepads, and some pens to thank them for all they do.
For the 12 Days of Hope, I chose to support One Warm Coat this year and bought ten parkas for various age groups. I also donated coats to this organization last year and appreciate this wonderful opportunity to serve in my community each year.
We chose to help a single mother with three young daughters for the 12 Days of Hope event. She had been in and out of homeless shelters and had just gotten into an apartment with help from the local church. We wanted to help and make it special for the holidays, so we gave the mother a mug with hot chocolate and a vacuum, the 12-year-old perfume, a few nail polishes, a nail care kit, and lip gloss, the 8-year-old received two Barbies and Barbie hair accessories, and the 2-year-old got a light-up interactive unicorn toy. We also gave each their own candy bag, put everything in gift bags, and wrapped the vacuum. They don’t have much, but we hope that the gifts we picked out will bring them some joy for Christmas. Thanks to the CharityRx team for making this possible.
For the 12 Days of Hope event, I chose to give a gift basket full of fruit, yummy snacks, and gift cards to a family in our neighborhood whose father has stage 4 cancer and cannot afford gas to travel an hour away to the hospital for his treatments and appointments. They were in great need of this gas money, so I included some Visa gift cards in a gift basket with the hope that it would ease their burden somewhat.
The second family’s parents had both lost their jobs recently. I teamed up with Tyson and Rachel B. to purchase a gift basket filled with blankets, family board games, junk food, and gift cards to offer a fun family night to brighten their spirits. I love giving and love that CharityRx encourages us always to give. It reminds me to be mindful of others and their needs. Giving is Living!
Through the CharityRx prescription discount card, we can make events like this possible. Every time a customer uses their card at the pharmacy, a donation is generated to help charities and to fund initiatives like the 12 Days of Hope event. Every prescription filled using the CharityRx card not only saves money for the cardholder but also contributes to making a positive difference in someone’s life.
During the holiday season, it is important to remember those who are less fortunate and may be struggling. While there are many ways to give back, donating to those in need is a meaningful and impactful way to spread joy and hope.
We hope that the CharityRx 12 Days of Hope event helps those in our communities and inspires others to give back and make a difference. Let’s continue to spread hope, kindness, compassion, and love during this season of giving.
Happy holidays from the CharityRx team! Remember, every prescription filled with the CharityRx card is not just a way to save money but also to give back to those in need. So, let’s continue to spread hope through donations and make a positive impact together.
