I am recently divorced, have four children–all grown, and raised my one grandchild, a girl. Now it’s me and my two dogs at home. I love to travel, and I love helping people. Outside of CharityRx, I’ve worked with our local homeless teen shelter for the last four years, and I started a support group for moms who have lost a child to addiction. This cause hits close to home, and I felt the need to help somehow. On my way back from the Dominican Republic, I stopped and spent a week in Texas with a good friend who lost her son last August.
Recently, I enrolled as a student at our local Community College. I am doing my second quarter of classes, learning more about business and human relations. When I finish school, I hope to start a non-profit for survivors of lost people with addictions–mostly for moms and children. I love being active, doing outdoor activities, and spending time with my kids and bonus kids.
Carolyn’s nephew, Landon, was the recipient of a Beacon of Hope award for partnering with CharityRx to raise funds to donate 2,000 meals to the Ronald McDonald House Charities in 2021. Landon is now a happy, healthy, and active 12-year-old.
I had been working with another company with John McKiernan. I chose to leave the company shortly after CharityRx was established and started this new journey with them.
Because of my previous experience, I haven’t experienced many roadblocks. One obstacle I’ve encountered is when you get a tech who takes a firm stand questioning your card or simply says they cannot or will not use it.
Depending on each circumstance, the person’s attitude, and body language, I may ask why they do not or will not use our card. Depending on their answer, my comeback could be our HIPPA compliance, the charities we support, the ease of using our card, or one of many other responses. When I sometimes sense no explanation is best, I kindly thank them, leave materials if they will take them, and thank them for what they do. The next time you come in, you may have a different tech who will be more welcoming.
CharityRx provides all the marketing materials needed, so we have everything we need available to us, enabling good-quality introductions and visits to pharmacies. The marketing materials are wonderful! The job was presented well to me, and I understood and knew from experience how the commission base starts slow and continually builds, so I was prepared for a slower start. Because of what CharityRx stands for and what they do, it’s very easy for me to represent them and be happy when I walk into a pharmacy. I feel passionate about what we do, and I love people. Because of the multiple and broad span of charities we do, we can capture almost any tech’s passion and something they believe in supporting and give them that “warm fuzzy” feeling.
Kindness!
