It’s hard to imagine that anyone goes hungry in a country that wastes billions of pounds of food each year. And yet, millions of Americans face food insecurity every day. Thankfully, the nonprofit organization, Three Square, is dedicated to responding to the needs of those struggling with food insecurity. Over the past year, the CharityRx Team has been fortunate enough to volunteer many hours of service to this incredible nonprofit organization. We were completely astounded at the amount of food and hope this charity offers to those in need. The efficiency of their food production and distribution system is incredible. Their outstanding example of an impeccably organized food bank inspired CharityRx to choose Three Square as the November Charity of the Month and to help feed those in need this holiday season.
The Three Square Mission:
To provide wholesome food to hungry people, while passionately pursuing a hunger-free community.
Since 2007, Three Square has worked with a service network of community partners to reach struggling individuals and families who are at risk of hunger. In 2019 alone, they distributed more than 41 million meals, the equivalent of more than 50 million pounds of food and grocery product.
Now, in the aftermath of Covid-19, the need for food has only been exacerbated by climbing unemployment rates and the unstable economy. The vital and life-giving role of the Three Square mission is now on full display, as millions of newly unemployed Americans turn to our nation’s food banks for life’s most basic essential – food.
