Our mission, created in partnership with charities, is to make medicine affordable and accessible for millions of Americans while giving back to organizations that need our help.
This goal is accomplished daily at the pharmacy counter by providing some of the deepest discounts in the industry, but also through numerous, thoughtfully-chosen organizations that receive some of the most significant donations they have ever received. During the 2021 holiday season, the giving spirit empowered over 30 individuals in the company to gather at the Annual Mission Trip in the Dominican Republic and provide underprivileged children the opportunity to experience the true joy of the season.
In December 2021, CharityRx leadership and representatives from around the country went shopping, using their own money, to buy gifts for orphaned children in the Dominican Republic. Each CharityRx representative sponsored four or more children and bought several clothing outfits for them according to their age, size, and gender. Various orphanages from around the island were selected as our guests. In total, 88 children’s lives were changed for the better. Their smiles were far more numerous and worthy than the gifts provided as they captured the hearts of those who participated.
Mission trip attendees not only purchased the gifts themselves but participated in wrapping and delivering them at a party given at the orphanage that included a special visit from Santa Claus himself, who brought candy gift bags for each child. In addition, each orphanage also received another ten gifts, including roller skates, nail polish, drones, and other items and toys chosen during a colossal shopping expedition done by the CharityRx leadership team. The leadership team consisted of Eric Beaumont, Andy Taber, Patrick Guerbette, Dustin Arnold, Kamie Christian, Janae Beaumont, and Angela McLay. Numerous top reps, some with significant others, also participated in the festivities.
After Santa’s visit, leadership and reps engaged and played with the children, which demonstrated that sometimes the best gifts are the gifts of time and fun.
In total, 520 hours of service, visiting and playing, 88 clothing outfits, and 108 gifts were given by 40 total volunteers.
For many, the holidays include a hearty meal that family and friends gather to share. Unfortunately, not everyone has the luxury of providing a holiday meal. CharityRx was ecstatic to have the opportunity to help with our DR Food Drive, where we worked with a local liaison, Giovanni, to purchase, package, and deliver bags of food and more gifts to families in the community.
On the event day, the CharityRx team visited with about 100 families, providing them with a variety of foods they could use to ensure all members of their families had enough to eat.
Joining the CharityRx team were five people from Giovanni’s Dominican Republic group and Santa Claus, who visited with the children and helped deliver candy and gifts. Naturally, more playtime ensued with the children there.
In all, CharityRx provided 34,264 meals, with 200 additional families given bags of food to take home, gave 1,200 gifts to 100 families with an average of three children each, and 45 volunteers spent a combined 620 hours preparing the food and gifts.
While the CharityRx Mission Trip takes a mountain of planning, hundreds of hours of dedication, and coordination between all involved, the attendees were also treated to some sightseeing and team-building activities in the beautiful Dominican Republic.
At the end of the trip, a banquet was held, and Beacon of Hope awards were given to reps who had reached milestones in 2021.
We look forward to the 2022 Mission Trip, where we will return to the Dominican Republic in February of 2023 and give hope to those who need help the most.
